WHO ARE WE ?

The International Association of Biological and EPR Radiation Dosimetry (IABERD) is a scientific association, established for the public benefit to advance research, development and education in the biological dosimetry and EPR dosimetry applied to ionizing radiation.

The IABERD is a young non-profit association, which gathers some interest of the scientific community of dosimetrists but requires its support.

WHAT WE DO

Our objectives

The aim of the IABERD is to stimulate and coordinate biological and EPR radiation dosimetry activities around the world, with two major objectives :

  • To hold and arrange courses and meetings on matters connected to these fields
  • To promote the diffusion and exchange of information among people interested in these fields

Scientific interests

Biological dosimetry is the measurement of radiation-induced biological and biophysical changes to estimate the exposure dose reflecting an equivalent of dose to the whole-body in order to assess acute and delayed heath-risks. The biological material used could be blood, teeth or bones. But EPR and OSL biophysical techniques are usable more largely on many other artefacts, for giving information on their direct environmental exposure, e.g. for dating.

History of IABERD

The International Association of Biological and EPR Radiation Dosimetry (acronym IABERD). The origin of this association comes from the necessity to sustain (financially, technically and/or scientifically) EPRBioDose Conferences, and to promote more specific technical events.
The draft constitution was discussed during the general assembly which took place in the course of the EPRBioDose2010 conference.
